Knitting weather

Well been having lots of good knitting weather..lot of cold rainy days although yesterday was yummy almost warm :-) so I didnt get much done during the day. I did start on a new project. I am doing a felted knitted bag very loosely based on this http://www.helloyarn.com/lopitote.htm. I am aiming for bigger dimensions as I want to use it as a knitting bag *fingers crossed* Using 5mm 60cm circs lol..way too small but I am managing and I am decreasing gradually towards the bottom so I guess eventually it will fit. I am still wondering what to do with the base..if I want to use co-ordinated drill fabric..I also want to line the inside depending on how the felting goes. I am so impatient to finish..I hope to get it done tonight!
BTW, I know I am knitting incorrectly..but for some reason I prefer it this way *shrugs* lol I reverted back to correct technique now.

Beanie for Lil

Knitted in the round with decreases then binded off and sewn together. I put tassels on the two pointy ends so it looks deliberate :-)

Wool skirt finished!

Ahhh I cant tell you how satisfying it is to complete a project.
This is using 10ply BFL custom dyed in gradient colours by a very talented WAHM. I bought this wool more then 4 mths ago when I first tried to learn to knit and I was too scared to use it. I am so glad I did. Very happy how it turned out. It was meant to be a pair of longies for Lil and I started with the doodlepants pattern intending to dye more wool in dark blue to compensate but decided a skirt would be quicker and easier for my first wearable project.

First attempt at dyeing

Using Kool Aid and thick thin merino..its growing on me.
Lil got to it and tangled it up nice and good..and Damien patiently sat down to unravel it which I very much appreciated.

The wool obsession continues.

I loved wool even before I knew about Modern Cloth Nappies. When I did find out you could buy wonderful hand knitted garments in alls sort of fantastic colours for my little ones..I became well and truly addicted. I am in such awe of all the talented knitters and did my fair share of collecting longies, shorties and soakers for Lil and Charlotte to wear.

I guess the next logical step try out knitting and after several failed attempts to learn..I now know the basics. I need plenty of guidance and thanks to some lovely other mums who on a fortnightly basis, I have knitting nights with..I am progressing slowly but surely.

I started little projects but was rather unahppy with the cheap wool I bought..u certainly get what you pay for and unfortunately didnt finish any of them LOL...I did make Char a little pouch for her little treasures.
